FAMILIES
Maine Immigrant & Refugee Services is now providing support to individuals and families from Ukraine seeking to rebuild their lives in Maine. In partnership with ECDC, one of the nine agencies that resettles refugees, MEIRS is excited to help Ukrainian refugees as they settle in our state. MEIRS is also working closely with local organizations and faith leaders to welcome Ukrainians and provide services such as:
Housing and furnishing
Food/Groceries
Cultural orientation
Interpretation and Translation services
Access and referrals to services
Employment training and job readiness
Referrals to local adult and ESL education
Transportation
Mental health support
Financial literacy and entrepreneurship training
Cash assistance
And much more
TO REFER A UKRAINIAN REFUGEE TO OUR PROGRAM, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM or SEND AN EMAIL TO OUR UKRAINE COORDINATOR. SOMEONE WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITHIN TWO BUSINESS DAYS.
Your Donation Helps Families
$2000.00 – Can help furnish a refugee family’s new home
$1,500.00 – Can help purchase beds for a refugee family
$1,000.00 – Can help provide one month of rent for a refugee family
$500.00 – Can help purchase winter clothing for a refugee family
$250.00 – Can help purchase groceries for a refugee
$100.00 – Can help purchase school supplies for refugee children
$50.00 – Can provide a welcome meal for a refugee family
$25.00 – Can purchase baby diapers and wipes
You can also volunteer to help welcome Ukrainians into our community by:
- Setting up apartments for Ukrainian families to ensure families come to a furnished apartment
- Taking families shopping and to see their new community
